Saucerful Of Secrets
For those interested (because this isn't West Ham related at all), Nick Mason has formed a new band which will be playing old Pink Floyd material live.

Tickets out now.

Re: Saucerful Of Secrets
I hate tribute bands and would rather listen to the original albums.....but this is interesting as Nick Mason and Guy Pratt are involved so I might go investigate. Not too sure of Gary Kemp doing the main Syd parts though.

I've got tickets for the Roundhouse.

I wouldn't entirely rule out Mr Gilmour popping up for a number or two. If he did it for Waters than he might for Mason?

As much as I love Floyd, I do struggle with the Syd Barrett era.

.....with the exception of Relics

Early Pink Floyd stuff is absolute arse gravy.

Re: Saucerful Of Secrets
If DSOTM was your introduction to Floyd, then certainly their earlier stuff is a bit of a challenge (as they were still basically finding their feet and evolving); it's worth a listen though.

Brit Floyd do the older songs a lot better, i do like Guy Pratt though

I'm all over this. The era of floyd that got me into them (I wasnt born until the 70s mind) and still my favourite period.

Seen clips of Gary Kemp in the band this week, he looks the business, much to my shock,

roundhouse and maybe a little trip over the channel for another date

If Pratt and Mason are involved, is it really a tribute band?

I don't think so, Astronomy Domine, Pow R Toc H and Interstellar Overdrive are great tracks, I even like Syd's Bike

I've got a cloak
It's a bit of a joke

A bit like the track... definitely in the "so bad it's good" category.

Unlike most of the rest of Floyd's stuff, which is good in a more straightforward way.

Let There Be More Light is an excellent track. I remember years ago seeing Think Floyd perform it.

Leonard Hatred ~

Back in the day when underground music was taking off (later to become progressive music) the people who liked it were called hip

People that liked most of the mainstream music & were unable to see beyond the nauseating love songs churned out by the likes of the Beatles etc were known as there

Everyone to their own but you'd have to be pretty simple to class the iconic sounds of 'Arnold Layne' & 'See Emily Play's as 'arse gravy' never mind 'The Piper at the Gates of Dawn'

I was lucky enough to see Pink Floyd live hundreds of times before & after She Barratt & it was always a great experience but it's all in the long distant past now. I see little point in tribute bands & the like going over the same old ground

The whole point of progressive music was exploring new stuff

Pink Floyd ended after 'The Wall' as far as I'm concerned

There's been precious little innovative music over the last 30 years

I suppose a major draw for tribute bands or bands of this vintage only featuring one 'original' member, is that a lot of people were too young to see the originals amd this is the closest they'll get.

I often think this is the mark of a great band/great music when there is an ongoing demand even after the original people have stopped playing.

Interstellar overdrive. Good track for testing your speakers for stereo sound.
